The Pillar · Last updated 24 August 2026
The Pillar has no user accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind. We do not collect, store, sell, or share your personal information. Your notes, highlights, and recordings live on your own device and, if you enable iCloud, in your own private iCloud account — not on any server we control.
The Pillar is published by thefrenchpressedone LLC, a Virginia limited liability company in the United States, at 3301 Richmond Hwy. #1160, Alexandria, VA 22305, USA. For anything in this policy, contact us at help@thepillarapp.com.
Everything you create in The Pillar is stored locally on your device:
If you have iCloud enabled, this content syncs through Apple's CloudKit to your private iCloud account so it appears on your other devices. It is encrypted and governed by Apple's privacy policy. We have no access to it, and no ability to read, retrieve, or delete it. If iCloud is off, your content never leaves the device at all.
Sermon Notes can record audio and capture photos of slides. These are used only to build your own notes, are saved on your device, and are never uploaded to us or to any third party. Both require your explicit permission, which you can revoke at any time in iOS Settings.
To display Bible text the app requests passages from third-party scripture providers. Those requests contain the passage and translation you asked for, and — as with any internet request — your device's IP address. They contain nothing about who you are, and we do not attach any identifier to them. The providers are:
Each provider handles those requests under its own privacy policy. Commentaries are fetched the same way, a chapter at a time, from the HelloAO API. The rest of the study content — Strong's, the lexicons, the five Bible dictionaries, and the topical index — is bundled in the app and needs no network connection at all.
Pillar Premium is sold through Apple's App Store. Apple processes the payment and tells the app only whether an active subscription exists. We never see or store your payment details, and we receive no billing information that identifies you personally. Apple's handling of that transaction is covered by Apple's privacy policy; you can manage or cancel a subscription in your App Store account settings.
If you enable reading reminders, they are scheduled locally on your device. There are no push notifications sent from a server, and no device token is transmitted to us.
The Pillar is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them. Because the app collects no personal information from anyone, it holds none about children either.
Privacy laws including the EU and UK GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act give you rights to access, correct, delete, and port your personal data, and to object to its processing. We hold no personal data about you, so there is nothing for us to produce or erase. Your content is yours and entirely under your control: you can export or delete notes and highlights inside the app, and deleting the app removes local content from that device. Content synced to iCloud is managed through your Apple account under Settings → [your name] → iCloud.
We do not sell or share personal information, and we have never done so.
If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted at this address with an updated date above. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
